Today we start our canoeing and bird watching tour. After a short lesson on canoeing techniques we get into the canoes and enter the water. During this tour on the peaceful waters of the river you will have the chance to get to know one of the most unspoiled areas of Greece. We will also have the opportunity to watch several birds such as cormorants, kingfishers and storks, but also many butterflies and dragonflies. In the first break, using telescopes and binoculars, we will watch the Griffon Vulture colony by the riparian forest.
Day 4: Thessaloniki Int. Airport*
After breakfast, we transfer you to Thessaloniki International Airport for your return flight.
Meals: Breakfast, lunch (in case of late departure). Accommodation: Hotel Nemesis.

Group size: Minimum group size required is 5 persons and maximum is 15.
Participants must have the basic knowledge of swimming, physical and mental health. All activities are suitable for beginners.
Minimum age requirement: 11 years.
Prices include:
• 3 nights on BB basis in double rooms with shower/WC, air conditioning, TV, telephone and internet access.
• 3 breakfasts, 2 picnic lunches and 3 dinners (drinks not included)
• A welcome cocktail.
• All transfers as per itinerary.
• English-speaking tour guide.

The tour is very easy and suitable for all ages (except infants). It lasts approximately 6 hours, including a break for swimming in the river and another one for a picnic lunch at the sand banks. The total length of this canoeing tour is 22 km / 13,5 miles. Safety is ensured by the use of lifejackets and a trained guide as escort. Before returning to the hotel for our overnight stay, we enjoy a BBQ close to the river banks.

From our hotel we drive to the Platanovrisi dam. After a short lesson on Rafting techniques we enter the water. Then we start paddling with our boats into the water through the river gorge. We make a break at the middle of our tour. At the ending point the vehicles are waiting to bring us back to the hotel. The activity lasts approximately 4,5 hours and the rafting tour approx. 2 hours.

On arrival at Thessaloniki Int. Airport* you will meet your guide. We will transfer you to Nestos (duration approx. 3 hours) where we check-in at our hotel in the village of Stavroupolis. A welcome cocktail will follow during which a member of our team will inform you about the program, the river and its nature. Then we drive to the old City of Xanthi (distance 10 km / 6 miles) where we will have dinner at a local tavern, tasting Greek and oriental delicacies for which Xanthi is famous!
